Knowledge Hero helps companies manage their employees’ knowledge easily and effectively. To this end, we offer specialized solutions: Our proven application “Easy Training”, since 2019, serves general knowledge certifications and training. Our platform “easyPLU”, launched at the end of 2023, specifically revolutionizes the learning of PLU codes (Price-Look-Up Codes) for the grocery retail sector. Both applications allow for the quick assessment of employees’ knowledge and the certification of important skills, which is crucial for onboarding, compliance, and quality assurance.

Transcript: So our two main products are in the field of knowledge, knowledge transfer, and knowledge assessment in large companies in the food industry. Easy Training is not restricted to the food industry. It can actually be used in any medium to large-sized company, especially if they operate internationally.

The other product is absolutely limited to the food sector. Easy PLU is a web application that enables employees to learn PLU numbers.

The story of Knowledge Hero began 2019 originally as a one-man show in Kempten. The founding idea was based on the concrete need for a simple and effective software for knowledge certifications in companies. From this practical solution, our first product, “Easy Training”, emerged.

With the success of “Easy Training”, the team also grew. Following the technical expertise of the CTO and the first developers, the management was expanded to include strategic leadership. Shortly thereafter, the internal processes were further professionalized to create a solid foundation for the future.

Based on this strong foundation, we expanded our offerings. At the end of 2023, we launched our second, highly specialized platform, “easyPLU”. It revolutionizes the learning of PLU codes (Price-Look-Up-Codes) specifically for the grocery retail sector and demonstrates our way of solving specific industry problems.

Today, Knowledge Hero is a dedicated team with a clear vision: We want to make corporate training as simple and effective as possible with our specialized solutions.

The biggest challenge I have experienced like this is quite natural when developing software or probably a product in general, the structural and speed-related beauty flaws, I would call them. Certainly, we had a few situations where we had to work a night shift because somehow the data load suddenly became too high, because suddenly multiple users were registered overnight or within a week. You simply notice that the team really did an incredible job and one must say that it was actually a feat to bring this product up.

What we certainly learned from these actions, especially from the night actions, is that it is super important to work in a structured way. It is super important to establish certain processes. We try to keep them as lean as possible, but it must also be that there are certain quality gates and such that our increments have to pass through before they go into production, because otherwise, we end up doing much more work than necessary if we do it right from the start.

The special feature of easyPLU® is its enormous scalability, making it the perfect solution for businesses of any size in the grocery retail sector. Even with a small branch network of just ten locations, savings of over 100,000 euros per year can be realized – a six-figure amount that proves rapid profitability. As the number of branches increases, this effect multiplies: If you operate 100 branches, the savings already reach into the millions. PLU is the abbreviation for “Price Look-Up” and refers to a globally standardized number used to identify loose, unpackaged fruits, vegetables, and herbs. These usually four or five-digit codes allow cashiers to quickly and accurately find products that do not have a scannable barcode – such as a single apple or banana – in the cash register system. The numbers can also contain additional information: A leading “9” indicates organic products, so a conventional banana (code 4011) can easily be distinguished from an organic banana (code 94011).

easyPLU® is a modern web application that runs directly in the browser for maximum flexibility on all internet-enabled devices – whether desktop, tablet, or smartphone. A separate app installation is therefore not required for use. However, for a fully integrated experience, our platform can also be seamlessly integrated into your existing company or employee app if desired.

Yes, the use of easyPLU® is extremely safe. In addition to our ISO 27001 certification and hosting in German data centers that meet the highest data protection and security standards, the application offers a well-thought-out role and rights model.
